Obituary for Joseph Vincent Whitehead

Joseph Vincent Whitehead Peacefully passed away in his home on Friday, June 10, 2106, at 7:30 p.m., succumbing to complications of Parkinson's disease he acquired from his exposure to Agent Orange while serving in combat in the Vietnam War. He was surrounded by his family and friends. Joe was born in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1948, to William and Mary Whitehead.

Joe graduated from Camarillo High School in California, in 1967, and entered the US Army that same year.

In 1972, he married his wife of 44 years, Linda Spiegelberg and moved to Oregon, in 1978. Joe and Linda had three children, William, Michelle (Parnell-Perez), and Patrick. Joe and Linda lost their oldest son William in 2000, as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Joe worked for Allstate Insurance from 1988 through his retirement in 2010.

Joe is survived by his wife Linda; daughter Michelle Parnell-Perez and her husband Michael; and his son Patrick and his wife LeAnn. Joe had seven grandchildren, Gabriella, William, Olivia, Brock, Mazie, Grant, and Calvin.

Services for Joe will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 323 N. Comstock Rd, Sutherlin, Oregon. Please visit Joe's website at www.sutherlinchapeloftherosesfh.com to leave fond memories and condolences for the family.
